Working Days Calculator: A Practical Guide
Use the Working Days Calculator to count Monday-to-Friday dates in an inclusive date range. Saturdays and Sundays are excluded. Public holidays, local closures and custom shift patterns are not removed automatically.
How to Use Working Days Calculator
- Choose Start date.
- Choose End date on or after it.
- Select Count working days.
- Subtract relevant weekday holidays separately if your purpose requires that adjustment.
An Inclusive Weekday Count
Both endpoints count if they fall on weekdays. A complete seven-day block contributes five weekdays. Any remaining dates are checked for Saturday or Sunday.
This is a standard Monday-to-Friday model rather than a country-specific business calendar. A holiday that falls on a weekend has already been excluded; do not subtract it again. Observed substitute holidays need their own date check.
Worked Example
Monday 2 March 2026 through Friday 6 March 2026 contains 5 working days. The following Saturday and Sunday add none.
Monday through the next Monday includes 6 weekdays because both Mondays count. If one included Wednesday is a holiday, an adjusted count would be 5.

Checks and Common Mistakes
- Do not assume national holidays have been removed.
- The form limits ranges to roughly 100 years.
- Use another method for a Sunday-to-Thursday workweek.
- Check whether your employer counts partial working days.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the start date count?
Yes, if it is Monday through Friday. The end date follows the same rule.
Can I upload a holiday list?
The current form has no holiday-list input. Make a separate adjustment using the actual dates.
Why is the answer different from elapsed days?
This tool uses inclusive weekdays. Date Difference uses elapsed calendar days, which is a different convention.
