Extract PDF Pages: A Practical Guide
Use Extract PDF Pages to create a new PDF containing only selected pages from a source document. This is useful when a recipient needs one certificate, chapter or supporting section instead of the complete file.
How to Use Extract PDF Pages
- Choose a PDF.
- Select the required pages using the workspace controls.
- Run the extraction action.
- Download and inspect the subset before sharing.
Keep Only the Required Pages
Selection refers to PDF page positions, not necessarily the printed labels. The new file contains a page subset; it does not redact selected areas within a page.
Consider context as well as page count. A standalone page that refers to a missing table or explanation may be technically extracted but practically incomplete.
Worked Example
If a 20-page report has the required evidence on pages 6–8, extract those three positions and confirm that the output has three pages.
If the source has an unnumbered cover, printed page 6 may be PDF position 7. Use the thumbnails to resolve that difference.
Divide a larger document into sections: use the Split PDF.
Keep everything except selected pages: use the Remove PDF Pages.
Checks and Common Mistakes
- Check all selected pages for unrelated personal information.
- Do not use extraction to hide text on a retained page.
- Preserve relevant continuation pages.
- Check signatures separately after document modification.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does extraction remove content from the original?
No. It produces a new output from the selected pages; your source file remains available.
Can I extract text with this tool?
This page extracts PDF pages. PDF Extract or OCR PDF addresses text-related tasks.
What if I selected the wrong pages?
Repeat from the original using the correct positions rather than repeatedly editing an uncertain intermediate copy.
